BEST-FW

BEST-FW is a new infiltration model designed to simulate water infiltration under fractional wettability (FW) conditions. The novel approach views the soil surface as an ensemble of two distinct fractions: (1) a water-repellent (WR) fraction, where hydrophobic effects impede water infiltration, leading to an increase in the infiltration rate over time and convex-shaped cumulative infiltration curves; and (2) a wettable (W) fraction, where capillarity and gravity forces predominate, resulting in a decreasing infiltration rate over time until reaching a steady state and exhibiting concave-shaped cumulative infiltration curves. (Di Prima et al. 2024).

BEST-WR

BEST-WR is an adaptation of the BEST method for the hydraulic characterization of both hydrophilic and water-repellent soils (Di Prima et al. 2021).

BEST-WR-3T

BEST-WR-3T is a three-term BEST formulation to describe infiltration in water-repellent soils. It does not require the definition of the transient state. (Yilmaz et al. 2022).
